Successful artists have tremendous work that is visible in the Music app on all of your devices. Ideally, this would help sort Apple Music albums chronologically, although it is not automatic. No worries, because sorting is easy on Mac and mobile devices.
How to sort Apple Music albums on Mac
To sort all the albums on your computer by artist and year:
- Open the Music app from the Mac dock.

Click on Albums under Library on the left side of the screen.

- Click on Seen on the Music toolbar.
- To select Show display options.
- To choose Artist next to Sort by under Display options.
- To select Year next to Then under Display options.

Close the Show options the window.

You can also browse and sort artist content (only in your library) by year:
- Open the Music app from the Mac dock.
- To look for for the artist in the search box at the top left.

Click on Artists under Library on the left side of the screen.

- To choose Year next to Sort albums by.

Close the Show options the window.

How to Sort Apple Music Albums on iPhone and iPad
On your best iPhone or iPad, you can also sort albums by artist and then year. Do this:
- Press the Music app on your home screen.
- To choose Library.

To select Artists.

- Find your artist.
- Faucet Sort top right.

To choose Newest first Where Oldest first, depending on your preference.
