Blackpink made YouTube history by becoming the world’s most subscribed music artist.
“Blackpink in your region”: Blackpink topped Justin Bieber’s YouTube subscribers by 66.4 million to become the first artist to reach 70 million subscribers on the social media platform, reported Soompi.
According to YG Entertainment, the group hit that milestone on November 28 at 11 a.m. KST after just five years and five months since launching their official YouTube account June 28, 2016.
Blackpink has overtaken other globally popular artists on the platform such as BTS, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Marshmello. Justin Bieber is currently in second place with 66.4 million YouTube subscribers.
According to Manila Bulletin, the South Korean girl group reached the list of Top 5 Subscriptions Among YouTube Musical Artists in July of last year. Following the release of band member Lisa’s album “Lalisa”, the band gained over five million additional subscribers.
Blackpink “DDU-DU DDU-DU”Is their most watched music video with over 1.7 billion views, as of this writing. Their clip for “Kill this love“garnered over 1.4 billion views while”Boumbayah”Has accumulated 1.3 billion views.
